baserunner provides an internal password function that checks the users entry against the value of a character field in the current record. If they match, baserunner opens the template specified in _passwordpass; if it does not match, baserunner opens the template specified in _passwordfail. You can, for instance, have the user enter a password in a data entry form, and only allow that record to be edited, deleted, or recalled if that password is entered.
A password form will look something like this:
<form action="/cgi-bin/baserun.exe" method="GET">
<input type="hidden" name="_ses" value="{session}">
<input type="hidden" name="_act" value="password">
Enter Password: <input type="password" size="20" name="_password">
<input type="submit" value="Submit">
</form>
baserunner expects the password to be sent from a field named _password. baserunner will compare the value sent in _password to the value of the field specified in the configuration variable _passfield, which should contain the name of a character field in the current database.
You may supply a default password with the variable _defpassword in the configuration file that will override any password contained in the database. This will allow you access to any protected function.
