WebVote 1.2 Upgrade (Access Application Fix)
===================

Problem:

In the release of WebVote 1.1, the Access application which is used as a GUI to easily
 store and organize questions and answers had a bug which didn't allow users to enter
 new questions or see the code behind it.

Solution:

This file replaces the original Messages.mdb file with one that works and explains how
 to import your old voting data into the new database.

** If you don't want to keep your old data, proceed to step 12

Step 1: Extract all files from WVote12.zip

Step 2: Rename your original Messages.mdb to MessagesData.mdb

Step 3: Open the new Messages.mdb (from WebVote 1.2)

Step 4: Close the Question: Form window (the one that allows you to enter questions)

Step 5: Click on the Tables tab

Step 6: Delete the Answer, Option, and Question tables
        (by clicking the delete button or right clicking the form name and clicking delete)

Step 7: Click Yes when asked 'Do you want to perminantly delete the xxxxx Table?'
		(xxxxx is either Answer, Option, or Question)
	And click Yes when asked 'Do you want Microsoft Access to delete the
	relationships now?'

Step 8: Click on the [F]ile -> Get External Data... -> Import in Microsoft Access

Step 9: Find the location of the MessagesData.mdb file (the one you renamed in Step 2)
		highlight it, and click Import.

Step 10: Make sure the Tables tab is up front (clicked) on the Import Objects window.

Step 11: Highlight the Answer, Option, and Question tables and click OK.

Step 12: Replace the old Messages.mdb file with the the new Messages.mdb file you just
	  upgraded.

WebVote 1.1 Upgrade (NetScape Fix)
===================
This documentation explains the steps to upgrade your WebVote 1.0 application to WebVote 1.1
 Upgrading WebVote1.0 as opposed to replacing WebVote1.0 with WebVote1.1 will retain your
 questions and answers. If you currently have WebVote1.0 configured, just follow the simple
 six step instructions to upgrade your WebVote 1.0 application.

Problem:

When accessed by NetScape Navigator (tested with v4.5), WebVote1.0 would not work when
using "ANSWER.ASP". This was caused by the way NetScape interprets HTML, and a </TABLE>
omission in the code.

Solution:

This problem has a simple fix and was a minor over site during the design and testing
 processes.

Step 1: Load answer.asp in notepad.

Step 2: Search for the code -

	  <TABLE>
	  <TR><TD>&nbsp </TD><TD>&nbsp </TD><TD>&nbsp </TD><TD>
	  <% response.write "<B>" & chr(64 + cint(mNumber)) & ".&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp" & rsQuestion("qQuestion") %>
	  </TD></TR></TABLE><P>

	  <% rsQuestion.close
	  set rsQuestion = nothing

Step 3: Put a semi-colon at the end of ".&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp". Your string should look like
		".&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp;". Your code will look like -

	  <TABLE>
	  <TR><TD>&nbsp </TD><TD>&nbsp </TD><TD>&nbsp </TD><TD>
	  <% response.write "<B>" & chr(64 + cint(mNumber)) & ".&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp;" & rsQuestion("qQuestion") %>
	  </TD></TR></TABLE><P>

	  <% rsQuestion.close
	  set rsQuestion = nothing

Step 4: Go to the end of the file and search for the code -

		connVB.close
		  set connVB = nothing

		%>
		</BODY>
		</HTML>

Step 5: Insert the closing tag </TABLE> after the "%>" line and before the </BODY> closing
 tag. Your ANSWER.ASP file should look like this -

		connVB.close
		  set connVB = nothing

		%>
		</TABLE>
		</BODY>
		</HTML>

Step 6: Save the file and upload the new ANSWER.ASP to your site.
