REQUIREMENTS:

1. Website

2. MySQL Database

3. PHP 3 or 4 (note that PHP4 is NOT GPL)

4. Some text editor and a lot of time...

// == == == == == == == == == == == == == == //

INSTALLATION:

1. Download the tarball and 'tar xvfz filename.tar.gz'. This will make a dir called
'ct2600Code' w/ some files and a www dir in it. The www dir is the actual site code.

2. In the ct2600-code directory is a file called 'ct2600db.sql'. This is the sql code
for the database used for ct2600.org. Some sample information is in the database
although not much. Note that the default admin password and username are ct2600 and
ct2600.

3. at the command line (or from PHPMyAdmin) do a 'mysql < ct2600db.sql'
(reformatted for your mysql install) to create the tables in the database.

4. do a 'cd www/data' and edit the dbconnect.inc.php file. Enter your database server,
username, password and database name as needed in this file.

5. While your here edit the file common.inc.php and change the configuration
settings as needed. The lines near the top should be the only ones you need to change
to get the code up and running.

6. back in the www directory you will want to edit the index.php file to remove anything
you do not need. Note that there is a table that is in the code for example which calls
the newest posts in one of our BBS forums. You will need to remove this if you do not
have the same BBS information.

7. In the data dir. are the .php3 files that create the news boxes on the left side of the index page. Edit the path in each of these files to either point to a tmp dir. or a dir. writable by your php exec or webserver. Once that is done do a 'touch /path/to/file/<filename>' and chmod 666 each of those files.

8. Upload all the directories and files in the www dir to your webservers root dir.

9. create a .htaccess file in your web root with the following information
in it (if you choose to use the custom error documents):

    ErrorDocument 401 /401.php
    ErrorDocument 403 /403.php
    ErrorDocument 404 /404.php
    ErrorDocument 500 /500.php

10. hit http://yoururl/ and view your new website. Looks alot like ct2600.org yes?
With some patience and time you can change that quickly.

The administration interface is located @ http://<yoururl>/admin. The default username and password are ct2600.
Currently there is no interface for adding users to the members page. Users should be added by using PHPMyAdmin or command line and adding their name (username) and a password. Let the user edit the rest of the info.
