Requirements:

(Or at least I know it works on this stuff...)

* PHP 3.0 or greater
* MySQL 3.22.32 or greater
* Apache Web Server

Install:

* Untar the files in a web-readable directory. The files will untar into a
  folder called "anecdotal."

* Run the following command: mysql < database.txt
  This will set up the database "homework" for use with this project.
  I know that this is a strange name for this project, but this is set up
  to work with the same staff names as used in the Homework Reporting
  System. A later release of this will rename the database for both
  projects, I promise.

* Rename the "sampl.inc" files to "sample.inc" (I put sample.inc in a
  shared, non-web-accessible directory for two reasons -- first, so that I
  don't need to keep the file in every directory, and secondly, for
  security reasons.)

* Password-protect (using .htaccess or another method) the "anecdotal"
  directory so that only teachers can access it.

* For the purposes of this program, you cannot add/remove staff members or
  students via the web. I did that so that only administrators could add /
  delete people from the list. I use (and recommend) phpMyAdmin to admin
  my MySQL databases, which makes it rather easy to add new teachers.
  phpMyAdmin is here: http://phpwizard.net/projects/phpMyAdmin/index.html

* If you don't use phpMyAdmin, you can add teachers by accessing MySQL
  from your shell prompt:
        mysql -u sample
        (this will put you into the mysql interface)
        use homework;
        INSERT INTO staff (teacher, username)
        VALUES ('<TEACHER>','<TEACHERUSERNAME>');
        exit

  And you can students similiarly:
        mysql -u sample
        (this will put you into the mysql interface)
        use homework;
        INSERT INTO studentid (firstname, lastname, advisory)
        VALUES ('<FIRSTNAME>','<LASTNAME>','<ADVISORY>);
        exit

* The header and footer functions are very basic... and the actual search
  engine is a very basic looking table. The idea is that this could be
  integrated as part of a larger faculty page.

That should be it!
