To install LXP you must be root OR a person who has the rights to edit the
httpd.conf file for Apache AND restart the Apache server.

1) In the httpd.conf add the following line under the Action section:

Action application/x-httpd-lxp /lxpServ/lxpServ.cgi?

2) Then make sure your DirectoryIndex includes the index.lxp extension this way:

DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.phtml index.php3 index.lxp

3) Finally, add the Mime Type for LXP files:

AddType application/x-httpd-lxp .lxp

Now what this will do is simple. Every file that ends in .lxp will be parsed
by lxpServ.cgi. Do not, we repeat DO NOT change the name of lxpServ.cgi to
lxpServ.cgi? or change the way any of the above looks unless you need to
store the lxpServ.cgi binary somewhere else on the system. It is all this way
for a reason.

Once this is done, make sure the lxpServ directory is housed in the root
document directory for your server (eg, /usr/local/apache/htdocs/lxpServ) so
that it matches line 1 above from the relative URL, restart Apache and you
should be LXP capable.
