6-15-2000 at home, late at night

* cookies are occasionally refreshed. (when their presence is checked.)
* whoops. cookies aren't visible until the *next* page is loaded after
  they're set. any ideas on how to refresh them?
* summary/some is broken. i'll fix it tomorrow or weekend. enjoy, all.
  hopefully, this won't need a paper bag fix.

6-15-2000 at work
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* list of surveys in admin.php displays properly now. (uses nicename)
* wahey-hey-hey! multiple types all insert properly into the db!
* results.php has been adapted. opens up a window for paragraph type.
* replaced broken 'view' action in survey.php with spiffy 'display_single'
  action in results.php, which is where it *should* be.
* paper bag fix for checkboxen: check for 'y', not for T/F.

6-14-2000 evening
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* adapted login to work with local/global users, should work
* took a snapshot here, since i'm about to break everything.
* made a release with an old 'modified' date. (on login.php). foo.
* removed cruft from admin.php (the old 'create' functions.)
* NOW start breaking everything.
* added options for checkbox, short answer, paragraph to config.php;
  also robustified survey-registration id. (you *can* manually
  set an auto-increment column.)
* modified config.php to create the four question types.
* added stripslashes to survey name display in function.inc.

6-13-2000 night
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* got a feature request; starting development again.
* modified install.sh to patch global.inc using sed. mmm, sed.
* install.sh patches create.sql, too. just change one line to select
  your database name.
* added GLOBAL/LOCAL user handling. (per-install vs. per-survey.)

5-16-2000 evening into late night
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* changed query function format to use verbosity as opposed to
  quietude as the exception to default behavior.
* survey selection wasn't working because i forgot to connect to
  the database. ouch.
* surveys can now be selected.
* surveys can be filled out. nicenames generate properly.
* survey.php uses survey_num_{questions,answers}() instead of
  reinventing the wheel.
* results.php and summary.php work fine.
* begin to make some things empty-result-safe.
* surveys can be deleted. however, this still leads to problems with
  SurveyCookie and where to unset it. i think i'll add something to
  the menubar tomorrow. time for sleep. stupid 8 am exams...

5-8-2000 afternoon
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* started adapting for multi-survey operation.
* admin.php links to config.php ('create survey')
* config.php is being updated to create the proper tables.
* s1-surveyinfo doesn't work after all: after a complex and ancient
  process known as Actually Reading The Manual, i noticed that
  MySQL doesn't support quoted names until 3.23.6. I'm developing
  on 3.22.30, so this presents a snag. instead of upgrading, I'll
  cave in and use 's$this_id"."surveyinfo', even though it's ugly.
  yuck.
* it creates all of the tables fine. now to implement all the
  other modules as well...

5-1-2000 afternoon
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* functions.inc: added very_quiet option to query, doesn't
  break anything.
* yes it does, changed survey.php and survey_nicename to
  not be ugly with it.
* moved development to /survey_beta directory so i can show off
  my zillion results while still doing an overhaul.

5-1-2000 early am
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* functions.inc: big_table_start() works the first time around
  now. it was trying to count a database that didn't exist. it
  now checks and tells you if there's no database yet.

4-24-2000
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* global.inc: removed superfluous {MIN,MAX}_AGE variables
* little cleanup things

4-21-2000 late evening
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* functions.inc: cache nicenames
  (reduces db queries in results.php 1664->929)
* functions.inc: cache numquestions, numanswers[question]
  and fix silly mistake in the latter. oops. results.php
  still counts 934 queries, though. the amazing 'FOO-FRU!'
  technique has yet to yield results.
* commented out whole load of results.php cruft that i
  haven't used in a month or so. maybe i'll use it later.
* finally! i wasn't properly caching survey_num_questions(),
  and it was querying for each result. no more 'FOO-FRU!'.
  the entire results page requires just five queries to load
  now.

4-20-2000 early, early am
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* remembered which mail address i use for the important stuff

4-19-2000
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* added survey_num_answers function
* changed "SELECT * ..." to "SELECT foo ..." in several places
  where there was only one field being selected
* *finally* implemented 'summary' page with new structures. i may yet
  wipe it all out and implement it again, with a better structure.
* added number-of-queries-per-page counter and display (if logged in as
  admin.) i have some *heavy* optimizations to do. perhaps switch to
  persistent connections, cache some things in PHP rather than querying
  them repeatedly.
* users.php: user id didn't persist if you mistyped confirmation password.

4-9-2000
adam b  grendel@strangelove.dyndns.org
* added 'confirm' step to database reinitialization

3-27-2000 2145 EST

* Started CHANGELOG
